About Ashe School of Music

Ashe School of Music was founded with a clear mission: to make high-quality music education accessible to the Holly Springs community and throughout Southern Wake County. Our founder, AsheLee Bonham Gahagan, launched the studio in 2019 from her own home, teaching students in a converted dining room. What began with just eight students quickly grew to over forty in under two years, revealing a growing need for passionate, professional music instruction in the area.

In April 2023, AsheLee opened the first official location of Ashe School of Music, a cozy cottage on Holly Springs Road, with two instructors and forty-five students. Within four months, enrollment doubled and to keep up with demand, we welcomed more instructors and expanded into a second location, our Main Street Studio in downtown Holly Springs.

By fall of 2025, to accommodate our ever growing music community, we closed the Cottage and moved into a new 4000 square foot space, our beautiful Ashe Music Hall, located one block from the Main Street Studio.

Where We Are Today

Now operating from both vibrant locations, we have over 6000 square feet of music education and performance space: 14 studio rooms, two recital spaces, the Ashe Music store, group class rooms, and we are excited to be a hub for the downtown community.

Ashe School of Music serves over 350 students weekly with a dedicated faculty of more than 20 professional musicians and educators. Our team shares AsheLee’s vision for creative, individualized, and compassionate instruction, ensuring every student receives a rich and supportive musical experience.

In recognition of her visionary leadership, AsheLee was honored as Business Leader of the Year 2023 by the Holly Springs Chamber of Commerce. Beyond the classroom, Ashe School of Music is deeply rooted in the community and you’ll often find our students performing at local events, retirement homes, and benefit concerts.

Advocacy for the Arts

In addition to our lessons, group classes, and student recitals, Ashe School of Music is deeply rooted in arts advocacy within the Holly Springs community. We host an Instrument Workshop Series along with community concerts, inviting guest musicians and teaching artists to share their craft, inspire creativity, and foster artistic growth for students of all ages. These engaging events spark creativity and strengthen the vibrant music community we’re building together.
