Our Story
Ashe School of Music was formed because our founder, AsheLee Bonham Gahagan, is passionate about expanding access to music education in Holly Springs, and all of Southern Wake County.
Starting from her home (a converted dining room!) in 2019, her studio grew from eight students to over forty in just under two years. As the population of Holly Springs grew and her waitlist got longer and longer, she knew there was an increasing need for qualified music instructors and decided to build a community of educators and young musicians.
She opened Ashe School of Music in April 2023 in a little house on Holly Springs Road, with two instructors and forty-five students. Within four months, the student number doubled, two more instructors were hired, and the school added an additional studio in the downtown district to accommodate the exponential growth.
Today, our school operates from two facilities and provides lessons for over two hundred local students each week. Our faculty of twenty-plus instructors are master teachers and performers, all of whom adhere to AsheLee’s philosophy of creative, tailored, and compassionate music instruction.
AsheLee was awarded Business Leader of the Year 2023 by the Holly Springs Chamber of Commerce in recognition of her remarkable leadership in steering the school’s growth and for enhancing the quality of arts offerings to the community. We are also dedicated to giving back to the community and serving the people that make this school a success. You will find our students performing in fundraising concerts, at local retirement homes, and at various community events. We hope you will join us and get started on your musical journey!
